How long is the CNA course?
The CNA course comprises 88 hours of classroom instruction and an additional 32 hours dedicated to clinical training.
How long do I have to take the skills test after I complete the CNA class?
You have a six-month window following the completion of the CNA class to take the skills test, with up to three attempts allowed.
Once I pass the skills how long do I have to take the written test?
Upon passing the skills test, you have one year to take your CNA written test from the completion of the CNA class, with up to three attempts permitted.
What if I didn't take the skills and/or the written exam in the allotted time frame?
To obtain an approval to test letter, it's necessary to reach out to the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare. The quickest method to initiate contact is via email, as they handle a substantial volume of requests daily. You can email your inquiry to IDNAP@dhw.idaho.gov
I need to renew my CNA Certification, what do I do?

To renew your CNA certificate through the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare's website, you'll need to complete a renewal form. Your employer must sign this form to verify your work history as a paid CNA or in nursing/nursing-related services, with a minimum of eight hours of employment within the two years preceding the certificate's expiration.

If your employer is unable to sign the form, you can alternatively submit a valid W-2 form or paystub containing your employer's information.

Should you be unable to provide evidence of eight hours of paid CNA work within the two-year period prior to certification expiration, you'll need to contact the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare to inquire about obtaining an approval to test letter.
