Description

This course is taught at the HazMat awareness and operational levels. The course meets competencies recommended by NFPA 1072 and is supplemented by information from government agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Department of Transportation (DOT).

Who Should Attend?

This course is for emergency response personnel who may be first on the scene of a hazardous materials emergency.

Walk Away With

After completion of this course students have the ability to identify hazardous materials and weapons of mass destruction. The ability to identify awareness-level personal and public protective actions.

Instructor Bio

Brad Buehler started his career as a firefighter in the Air Force, and was honorably discharged after completing four years of service.  He then became a civilian firefighter/fire officer/EMT and served in those positions for the next 20yrs.  He has an extensive background in Technical (rope) Rescue, Swift water and back country rescue.  Recently, his focus has shifted toward educating aspiring Emergency Responders tactical firefighting techniques, critical thinking, and overall safety on any emergency scene.

When not working, Brad enjoys spending quality time with his partner, Jen. They both very much enjoy the outdoors and spending time in any body of water.  He also enjoy hunting, fly-fishing, mountaineering and rafting just to name a few. Brad looks forward to his new role here at CSI and is excited for the opportunity to educate a younger generation on modern firefighting and rescue techniques.
