Description

The Basic Life Support (BLS) course teaches BLS knowledge and skills. The lecture portion of the  course covers basic CPR and AED concepts as well as an introduction of the skills and techniques needed to successfully save someone's life. The second part of the course covers the BLS written and skills test where you will have the opportunity to demonstrate the skills you have learned in the course.  

What Will I Learn?

  • Describe the importance of CPR and its impact on saving lives
  • Describe all of the steps of the Chain of Survival and apply the BLS concepts
  • Identify the signs of someone needing CPR
  • Perform CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • Describe the importance of early use of an AED and demonstrate its use
  • Provide effective ventilations using a barrier device
  • Perform as a team member during multi rescuer CPR
  • Describe how to relieve the body of a foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

Walk Away With

Upon successful completion of the skills demonstration and written test, you will be issued access to your American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification via e-card.

Samantha Brizee

Sam Graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training. She had over 20,000 hours of hands on experience with sports medicine. She has worked with Semi-pro to middle school athletes. She has had experience working with hockey, football, softball, baseball, wrestling, basketball, soccer, track & field, swimming, cross country, diving, volleyball, golf, cheer, and dance. She had worked several special events such as Rodeo, Hockey, basketball, and volleyball tournaments.
