Electrical Program Year 1

Overview

This is a 4-year Electrical Apprenticeship Program that meets the State of Idaho requirement of 576 classroom hours (144 hours per year) needed to obtain an Electrical Journeyman License. Instruction is delivered in a 24-week course each year. The program covers trade mathematics, fundamentals of electricity and power distribution, National Electrical Code requirements, residential, commercial, and industrial wiring, control theory, and other essential skills.

⚠️ Important: Employment is not provided through the program. Apprentices must independently secure and maintain employment with a licensed Electrical Journeyman or Master Electrician to complete required work hours. You do not need to have employment to enroll in the course; however, it is strongly encouraged to obtain employment as soon as possible to avoid delays in meeting the work hour requirement and obtaining your Journeyman License.

 

How to get started

• Register- through CSI Workforce by selecting the register button to the right or down below if on a mobile device and then create a Lumens account
• Pay tuition- $995: If you have Idaho Launch, WIOA, or VOC Rehab funding, please call our office 208-732-6310 to register. 
• Purchase the Mike Holt Blended Learning Package - $250 plus shipping and sales tax. MUST be purchased separately through Mike Holt using our direct link. It CANNOT be purchased through Amazon or any other platform. Please note, that the books included in this package cannot be shared, as the purchase includes access to the online system. You will also need to keep the books for the remaining of this program. 
• Obtain required books- National Electrical Code (NEC) Book and Ugly's Electrical Reference Book. These materials will be used throughout all four years of the program. 

⚠️ Important: The blended learning package and tuition must be paid at least 2 days prior to the start of class. Failure to purchase the Mike Holt's Blended Learning package will result in removal from the program.

Entrance Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Participants must be able to understand and communicate in English to the extent necessary to safely participate in training, complete coursework, and pass required examinations, which are provided in English.
• Work under the constant supervision of a licensed Electrical Journeyman or Master Electrician
• Apply for Apprentice Electrical License through the State Electrical Bureau: Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses

Program Expectations

• Attend all scheduled classes: Students must maintain a minimum of 70% attendance to successfully pass the course.
• Complete all assignments in Capacitor: All assignments must be completed by the designated deadlines. Students must achieve a minimum overall grade of 70% to pass.
• State Assessment Requirement: Students are required to take the state assessment. Failure to take the assessment will result in automatic failure of the course, regardless of attendance or grade.
• Communication: Students are expected to communicate with their instructor regarding absences or potential course extensions in a timely manner.
• Professional Conduct: Students are expected to demonstrate professionalism in the classroom, come prepared to learn, and bring required materials (including books) to each class.

• Advanced Opportunities (High School Students)  Current high school students may be eligible for Advanced Opportunities funding, which can cover the full tuition cost of this program.  Please note that students who have previously used Advanced Opportunities funding and did not successfully complete a course may no longer be eligible.

This scholarship may help offset costs through partial tuition assistance or by covering the Mike Holt blended learning package or the required code book.

• Tuition Loan Agreement (Payment Plan) We also offer a split payment option called a Tuition Loan Agreement.  50% of the total balance is due at the time of enrollment, and the remaining balance is due approximately one month after the program start date.
