Description
In a world that is rapidly changing and people are making unprecedented employment decisions, effectively managing teams has never been more complicated. Hybrid or home-based teams add new dynamics and unfilled positions have created new stressors. The political environments, global tensions and COVID only add to complexity of today’s work environment.
Through this four-part course, Carol and David will lead you through exploring how to use brain-based approaches to improve team performance, communication and relationships. This class will cover morale, retention, development, succession planning, creating peak performance, change, and much more.

Instructor Bio
Fox TV has called Carol Barkes “one of the TOP Neuroscience and Conflict Resolution experts in the country.” and she has also been TWICE honored as Idaho Woman of the Year. She is a neuroscience-based conflict and communication specialist, best-selling author, mediator, and consultant with a wide variety of experience including speaking at the United Nations. Carol is an ADR Advisor to the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA. She is also an Adjunct Professor for UofI and BSU and is a sought-after keynote speaker with a thriving private practice through which she provides training, consultation, facilitation, coaching, and mediation for some of the world’s most notable organizations including Amazon, Idaho Power, Bridon USA, Rite Stuff Foods and Kount. In careers gone by, she was also a professional firefighter in the San Francisco Bay Area.
David has worked with and managed teams of all levels, ranging from 2 - 200 people. His experience in operations and business ownership spans the last 15 years. Having worked in a variety of organizational levels, from cashier to Vice President, he clearly understands the need for teams to work together to create successful organizations. His education and expertise in Intercultural Communication and Entrepreneurship coupled with his master’s degree in Organization Conflict Resolution guide his approach. He has worked with Idaho’s largest county courts to effectively mediate high conflict cases helping parties achieve amicable resolutions. In his free time, you can find him outside with his family, playing in the yard or skateboarding around the neighborhood. As a skateboarder, he understands that it takes a lot of failure and patience to learn new skills and overcome challenges in a real way. This lens influences his approach to training organizations.
