Description

Firefighters take on significant responsibilities when they choose their profession, putting themselves in the path of danger and taking calculated risks to keep others safe. Firefighters need to possess many skills to perform their job safely and effectively. One of those things is to be dressed in less than 2 minutes! This includes turnout gear, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), etc. All that gear plus their tools can weigh anywhere between 80 to 120 pounds.

Walk Away With:

This course is designed to train the student to the professional qualification level of Firefighter 1 as outlined in NFPA 1001 Professional Qualifications Standard. The lab is designed to prepare students to pass the psychomotor portion of the Firefighter 1 certification exam as outlined in NFPA 1001 Professional Qualifications Standard.

Who Should Attend?

This course is for Emergency Medical Technicians with a current NREMT certification currently employed or interested in the fire industry.

Instructor Bio

Brad Buehler started his career as a firefighter in the Air Force and was honorably discharged after completing four years of service. He then became a civilian firefighter/fire officer/EMT and served in those positions for the next 20yrs. He has an extensive background in Technical (rope) Rescue, Swift Water, and backcountry rescue. Recently, his focus has shifted toward educating aspiring Emergency Responders tactical firefighting techniques, critical thinking, and overall safety on any emergency scene.
