Overview

This is a 4-year Plumbing Apprenticeship Program that meets the State of Idaho requirement of 576 classroom hours (144 hours per year) needed to progress in the plumbing trade. Instruction is delivered in a 24-week course each year. The program provides training in plumbing fundamentals, safety practices, blueprint reading, residential, commercial, and
industrial plumbing systems, and other essential skills using the NCCER 4th Edition curriculum. Apprentices are also required to complete 8,000 hours of documented on-the-job work experience (2,000 hours per year average) under the supervision of a licensed plumber.

⚠️ Important: Employment is not provided through the program. Apprentices must independently secure and maintain employment with a licensed Plumbing Journeyman or Master Plumber to complete required work hours. You do not need to have employment to enroll; however, it is strongly encouraged to obtain employment as soon as
possible to avoid delays in completing the program requirements.

How to Get Started

  1. Register – Through CSI Workforce by selecting the register button and creating a Lumens account.
  2. Pay Tuition – $875. If you have Idaho Launch, WIOA, or Vocational Rehabilitation funding, please call our office at 208-732-6310 to register.
  3. Obtain Required Books 2026 Book List 
⚠️ Important: Students must purchase the books for their current year and retain books from previous years, as they are used throughout the program. Books are not included in tuition.

Entrance Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Participants must be able to understand and communicate in English to the extent necessary to safely participate in training, complete coursework, and pass required examinations, which are provided in English. 
  • Work under the constant supervision of a licensed Plumber Journeyman or Master Plumber
  • Apply for Apprentice Plumbing License through Idaho Division of Building Safety  or call (208-332-7112)

Program Expectations

  • Attendance: Students must maintain attendance to pass successfully. Attendance is 20% of the overall grade
  • Coursework: All assignments must be completed by the designated deadlines with a minimum overall grade of 70%
  • Communication: Students are expected to communicate with instructors regarding absences or concerns
  • Professional Conduct: Students must come prepared, bring required materials, and demonstrate professionalism
