Description

This is an American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver® First Aid instructor-led course. Students that take this course receive hands-on instruction on how to deliver basic first aid in life-threatening situations. This is a hands-on course that also includes skills practice delivered and supervised by an AHA certified instructor.

What Will I Learn?

Students will demonstrate proficiency in the following items:

  • List the priorities, roles, and responsibilities of the first aid rescuer
  • Describe the key steps in first aid
  • Locate the problem
  • Describe the assessment and first aid actions for the following life-threatening conditions: heart attack, difficulty breathing, choking, severe bleeding, shock, and stroke
  • Use an epinephrine pen
  • Control bleeding and bandaging
  • Recognize the basics of common injuries
  • Recognize the basics of common illnesses
  • Describe how to find information on preventing illness and injury
  • Recognize the legal questions that apply to first aid rescuers

Walk Away With

Students who successfully pass this course will be issued an American Hearth Association Heartsaver First Aid certification e-card.

Heartsaver® courses are intended for anyone who needs a certification for their job, business regulatory, or other purposes. These courses are also open to anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.
