Beginning with the fundamentals of human communication, students will gain an understanding of how the adult brain learns, adapts, and changes. You will explore different personality types and preferred learning methods, as well as the differences between education, training, and mentoring. With the goal of becoming a better communicator, you will complete several self-assessments to understand your own preferences and develop a perspective on the preferences of others.

Instructor Bio

Andy Orr

Andy accepted a position as a CSI instructor in the Communication department two years ago.  In addition to the introduction to human communications, he teaches business and professional speaking.  He also serves as director of the speech and debate program.  Prior to joining the faculty, he gained over ten years of experience as a corporate trainer and store manager for Starbucks.  Along the way, he earned his Master’s in public administration from Boise State and Bachelor of Arts from Pacific Lutheran.   Both he and his wife were born in the Magic Valley, and their two young daughters have quickly begun to put down roots.
