Registered Nursing to Paramedic Bridge Program
Description
You will learn to perform in the role, function, and responsibilities of a paramedic in both the emergency care and operational aspects of EMTs in the health care delivery system as defined by the Idaho Bureau of EMS and the National Registry of EMTs. Students will have 365 days from the day they start to complete the program.
This is an all-online course, except for the required clinical component. To complete clinicals, students have two options.
- Locate a qualified clinical site (site must be able to affiliate with College of Southern Idaho)
- Travel to CSI - Twin Falls campus
What Will I Learn?
- Safely demonstrate competency in patient assessment and in skills as referenced to the current National EMS Education Standards for Emergency Medical Technicians and the State of Idaho Training Standards
- Use effective communication skills in written and verbal situations
- Apply legal and ethical principles in a variety of situations
- Recognize and properly respond to the needs of the patient
- Demonstrate competence in the use and care of the equipment required for optimum patient care and safety
Walk Away With
Upon completion of the program, students with a final score of 75% or higher will be approved to take the National Registry of Paramedic Certification Examination. (Students who wish to take the exam must pay NREMT’s testing fees.)
Who Should Attend?
This course is for licensed Registered Nurses looking to obtain a paramedic certification. You must have:
- A current Emergency Medical Technician certification from the National Registry
- Three or more years of experience in an emergency or critical care setting
- Completed and submitted the application form
- You will be required to submit your acceptance verification at the time of your registration.
